Dear Joe, Don’t Ban TikTok

I will be sending this letter to my elected officials, feel free to copy and paste and do the same. Dear [Elected Representative], I am writing to express my concerns about the potential ban on TikTok. I believe that banning TikTok would be a mistake for political, ethical, and logistical…

20 LGBTQ+ Movie & Documentary Recommendations (+ 5 With Strong Queer Undertones!)

These are in no particular order. Also I’ll own my bias. I tend to be drawn to queer films more Lesbian-Centric! 👯 👭 Disclosure (2020) — IMDb Disclosure is documentary about trans peoples’ representation in media in film. The documentary opens up with Laverne Cox talking about how eighty percent…

How To Craft The Perfect Sandwich

Now I’m not a chef, or an expert in culinary arts in any respect, but sandwich making isn’t cooking. It is an art form. So please, enjoy this brief journey into my creative process: Bread Toast it just right, unless it is fresh baked bread/still hot. Toast it somewhere between…

American Eyes on Ukrainian Valor

Unfortunately, A Poem I cried when I heard about the Ukrainian 13. “Russian Warship Go Fuck Yourself!” Even as a stranger, it’s hard not to marvel at this audacious display of valor. As an American, in our isolationist, post-factual society, it’s hard not to regard Patriotism as anything more than racist propaganda. No really, is anyone still dumb enough to be proud to be an American? The notion of one sacrificing — let alone dying for country — and really dying for country, (and not merely committing War Crimes), is just so damn Foreign.

Look At The Time

A Short Story A woman sits alone at her kitchen table, sipping her morning coffee. She stares out the window, looks up at the sky. No clouds. Atypical for San Francisco summer. She sighs. The chair groans as she rises, and hardwood creeks beneath her feet. She starts to head…

The Body

A Poem — The body is the colonizer’s first stop, the soft flesh of your underbelly makes as good a place as any to stick the pike-end of their gaudy flag. Women’s bodies, black bodies, children’s bodies, fat bodies, disabled bodies, queer bodies, sex worker bodies, and so on. Don’t matter to the Colonizer. Oppression is not rational. Oppression is not reasonable. Stop trying to rationalize the inner workings of the unreasonable.

A Poem To The Future

The The Future: Who are you? When are you? Have you even been born? If so, I suppose that’s a good sign. Not for me or my loved ones. We’re probably dead. No wonder the old fear the young, a more than infuriating reminder of their (or our) imminent death. …

Third Reich Bipartisanship

A Not So Civil Poem Imagine if after the war, Jewish people, the resistance, queers, commies, gypsies, were told over and over, “Bring the Nazis along” for German reconstruction. Just as they were told during the fascist movement’s sudden, yet somehow pernicious, rise. The word Holocaust means death by fire. You…

A Defense of Wokeness in the Face of Fascism

Healing From Trumpism Series First of all, I would like to point out that being woke isn’t really a thing amongst those who are often described as such, any longer. According to the Independent, the origins of the word can be traced back to the early 2000s. After the Ferguson…
